Distinguished by its herbaceous freshness and hints of green tea, enriched by bourbon notes
A BIT OF HISTORY…
Teaninich Distillery, owned by Diageo, is one of the northernmost distilleries in Scotland, located about thirty kilometres north of Inverness. It employs a unique production technique unlike any other Scottish distillery: a press gently squeezes the mash to extract an ultra-clear wort, which is passed through a cloth filter and then pumped into containers. The resulting whisky is distinguished by exotic grassy notes reminiscent of Japanese green tea. The full-bodied character of the still imparts a subtle, “fatty” richness to the texture, creating a silky depth that beautifully complements its bright, herbaceous freshness.
This whisky is matured for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks sourced from the renowned American distillery KOVAL, based in the city of Chicago. Koval whiskies are Single Barrel and Small Batch expressions, which means every spirit produced can be traced back to its specific aging cask. Koval barrels are crafted from locally sourced wood and hold 30 gallons (113.55 liters). Eugenio Bigliocca carefully selected barrel number #721196A and chose to bottle this single malt at its natural cask strength of 57.3% ABV.
